This opportunity, which is either at Senior Associate or Partner level, will have a real focus on strategy, supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and strengthening client relationships. The successful candidate will manage a busy caseload of pre-litigated personal injury claims, supporting clients who have suffered injury or loss as a result of negligence. This role is suited to an individual with experience in claimant personal injury work who is confident progressing cases independently through the pre-litigation process while providing high standards of client care and communication. The position involves managing claims from instruction through to the point of litigation. Once proceedings are issued, matters will transfer to a conducting lawyer within the litigation team, although the successful candidate will continue to assist with preparatory and administrative tasks through to conclusion where required.

Responsibilities:

Manage and assist with a caseload of approximately 100–120 personal injury claims.
Progress matters through all pre-litigation stages using the firm’s case management system.
Conduct liability and quantum investigations, including obtaining witness statements and supporting evidence.
Liaise professionally with clients, insurers, experts, and third-party solicitors.
Prepare files for issue and transfer to the conducting lawyer where appropriate.
Assist with preparatory and administrative tasks for litigated matters.
Ensure compliance with procedural rules, firm policies, and professional standards.
Maintain accurate file management and time recording in line with performance targets.
Provide regular updates and reports to supervising team members.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

About you:

You must have at least 5 years' experience in PI and litigation, including EL, PL, and RTA cases.
Proven experience independently handling claimant personal injury matters.
Strong working knowledge of the MOJ Portal and pre-litigation processes.
Good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and litigation procedures.
Excellent communication and client-care skills, with a professional and empathetic approach.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

We are seeking to recruit an ambitious and confident planning Associate (with at least 4 years PQE) to join this leading Planning and Infrastructure Consenting Team in Exeter. This team advises on some of the largest developments in the region including large scale strategic development, nationally significant energy and infrastructure development, planning obligations, community infrastructure levy, lawful development certificates and highways. They act for national and regional housebuilders, land promoters, and local authorities on all aspects of bringing forward development.

Responsible for helping with and running your own case-load, you will work with partners and solicitors in the department across the firm's offices. The planning team covers the full remit of planning matters, meaning you will also support other teams in the firm on property acquisitions and disposals, as well as advise on contentious planning matters such as enforcement, compulsory purchase, judicial reviews, statutory challenges and appeals.

You will be responsible for dealing with high quality, high value work with high levels of responsibility from the outset.

Experience and skills required:

4+ PQE, although we have flexibility on this
We are looking for someone with a firm grounding in planning work, ideally with some experience in residential development and energy related cases
A hard-working ethic, a credible approach and a dynamic personality
