Private Client Partner - Swindon

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Private Client Partner to join a leading Top 100 law firm and their established and highly regarded team in Swindon. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Private Client Partner to join a well-established practice with a strong regional presence and a clear focus on continued growth. The Swindon team forms part of a wider Private Client practice of more than 80 people, with significant support available across the firm to help develop work, improve profitability and build a successful practice. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing clients, growing the Private Client practice and supporting the continued success of the department. You’ll have the opportunity to work with high-quality clients, take responsibility for complex matters and contribute meaningfully to the strategic direction of the team. The firm has also recently invested in a new, modern Swindon hub, providing a high-quality environment designed to encourage collaboration across teams and support the firm’s long-term growth across Wiltshire, Berkshire and Gloucestershire.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a senior lawyer on complex Private Client matters, providing expert advice and taking responsibility for high-quality client work.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and professional referrers.
  • Develop and grow your own client base and professional network.
  • Lead client and referrer development plans and identify opportunities for further work.
  • Support the development and supervision of more junior fee earners.
  • Provide leadership and contribute to the performance and development of the wider team.
  • Play an active role in business development, including pitches, networking and thought leadership.
  • Develop relationships across the firm to encourage cross-referrals and collaborative working.
  • Contribute to the department’s business plan and wider growth strategy.
  • Take responsibility for profitability, financial performance and delivery of departmental KPIs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiencies and the use of precedents.
  • Support the development of team know-how and marketing materials.
  • Manage professional risk and ensure appropriate regulatory and financial procedures are followed.

About you:

  • Experienced Private Client lawyer with strong technical knowledge and expertise.
  • Significant experience advising on complex Private Client matters.
  • Strong understanding of the Private Client sector and the ability to act as a recognised expert within your area.
  • Exceptional client management and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrable business development experience, with a track record of converting BD activity into new work.
  • A client following and established business plan would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Confident leader with experience supporting, supervising and developing junior lawyers.
  • Commercially minded, with a strong understanding of profitability and business performance.
  • Ambitious and motivated by the opportunity to help shape the continued growth of the Private Client practice.
