Due to continued growth, our client, a well-established and respected law firm based in Truro, is looking to recruit a Private Client Lawyer to join its successful department. The department receives a consistent flow of high-quality instructions, including complex, high-value and high-net-worth matters. The role is primarily office-based and full-time, although part-time and flexible working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Managing your own varied private client caseload with appropriate supervision.
- Advising clients on wills, succession planning and estate planning.
- Preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications where required.
- Advising on trusts, including drafting trust documentation, trust administration and ongoing trust management.
- Handling probate and estate administration matters, including taxable and non-taxable estates, inheritance tax returns, deeds of variation and estate accounts.
- Building strong relationships with clients and working closely with accountants, financial advisers and other professional contacts.
- Ensuring compliance with AML regulations, regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
- Collaborating with colleagues across Property, Litigation and other departments to provide a seamless client service.
- Contributing to the continued growth and success of the Private Client department.
About you:
- Qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or actively progressing towards qualification through CILEX or SQE.
- Experience managing your own private client caseload.
- Strong technical knowledge across wills, trusts and probate.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Well organised with strong file management and organisational abilities.
- Commercially aware with a proactive and collaborative approach.
- Experience in areas such as Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection, elderly client work or complex estate planning would be advantageous but is not essential.
