Planning Associate / Senior Associate - Exeter

Aspiria Legal are proud to be working with a Top 100 UK law firm in the search for an Associate or Senior Associate to join their nationally recognised Planning & Environmental team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a Legal 500 and Chambers-ranked team at a time of continued growth. Working from Exeter, Bristol or Southampton, you'll advise on a broad range of high-profile planning matters, with a particular focus on major infrastructure projects and development schemes. The role offers exposure to exceptional quality work, genuine client contact and excellent opportunities to develop your career within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Advising clients on Development Consent Orders (DCOs) and other major infrastructure consenting regimes, supporting projects from strategy through to implementation.
  • Advising on a broad range of Town and Country Planning Act matters, including planning applications, appeals, planning strategy and development delivery.
  • Negotiating Section 106 agreements, highways agreements and other planning and infrastructure documentation.
  • Providing planning support on corporate, real estate, energy and infrastructure transactions, including due diligence and planning risk advice.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Property and Transactional teams to deliver seamless client service.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, becoming a trusted adviser to a diverse client base.
  • Supporting business development, networking and profile-raising activities to contribute to the continued growth of the team.
  • Mentoring and supporting the development of junior lawyers and trainees.

 

About you:

  • Qualified Solicitor with approximately 3 - 6 years' PQE, although applications from candidates outside this range with relevant experience are encouraged.
  • Experience advising on Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Infrastructure Consent Orders (ICOs) or other infrastructure consenting regimes.
  • Strong knowledge of Town and Country Planning Act matters, including planning applications, planning agreements and development work.
  • Experience within the energy, transport, utilities, regeneration or wider infrastructure sectors would be advantageous.
  • Environmental law experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Commercially minded with excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills.
  • Passionate about building client relationships and contributing to business development.
  • A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for supporting the continued growth of a successful team.
