A highly-reputable regional law firm in Plymouth is looking to recruit a Contentious Trusts & Probate lawyer to join their team as the sole specialist in contentious trust and probate matters. This varied role will involve providing dedicated litigation support to the Wills, Trusts and Probate team and handling a range of contentious trust and probate disputes. There may also be opportunities to assist with general commercial disputes from time to time. The ideal candidate will have the following; a minimum 3 years' PQE in litigation, including working on contentious trusts and probate matter, be a member of ACTAPS (or the willingness to obtain), enjoy business development/networking and have strong commercial awareness. Skills & Experience sought:
- Minimum 3 years' PQE in litigation
- Current caseload including contentious trusts & probate matters
- Proven track record of winning new work through referrals and business development
- ACTAPS membership (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong commercial awareness with high energy, integrity and drive
- Excellent communicator, both written and oral
- Strong IT skills and comfortable with case management systems (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Able to manage a busy caseload and work to high standards of quality and client care
- Willing to work flexibly outside of normal hours when required
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct litigation matters on behalf of clients
- Provide litigation support to the Wills, Trusts and Probate department
- Manage and supervise support staff where applicable
- Participate in business development and client relationship building activities
- Maintain cashflow through timely billing and collection of monies on account
- Deliver fee earning work accurately and in line with quality and risk management procedures (Lexcel)
- Attend departmental meetings and contribute positively to the team
