We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Associate (ideally with 5-8+ years' PQE) specialising in contentious construction law, to join a forward-thinking firm, in a highly regarded Construction and Infrastructure team, based in either the Bristol or Exeter offices. The successful candidate will have a typical workload that includes construction and infrastructure related dispute work involving court litigation, adjudication, arbitration, mediation and other forms of ADR relating to disputes over payment, delays, defects, professional negligence together with advice on contract management and dispute mitigation strategies.
With plenty of variety, you’ll typically advise on a wide range of construction projects, including commercial development, utilities, renewable energy, residential, operation/maintenance/service contracts and facilities management. The clients you'll be working with range from funding institutions and large multinationals to local authorities and contract and developers. You'll be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues across the Construction department, as well as other teams such as Real Estate, Corporate, Commercial and Planning, to ensure the high quality service.
You will be someone who has a good level of experience of the day-to-day running of construction disputes who can join the team and hit the ground running. This is an opportunity to join a Top Southwest law firm with ongoing training and support to enhance your development as a construction lawyer.
Skills & Experience sought:
- Excellent communication skills and be able to build strong, long-lasting relationships with clients
- You will have experience in a variety of construction based disputes or claims and, in addition to litigation, you may have been involved in adjudications, arbitrations and expert determinations
- You will be responsive and provide accessible, commercial, and pragmatic advice to clients
- You will have experience assisting with larger and more complex disputes in your current role, as well as advising clients directly on strategy and contract interpretation
