An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified lawyer to join a specialist litigation team working on high-value Catastrophic Injury and Clinical Negligence claims. This role offers the chance to work closely with a Senior Fee Earner on a portfolio of complex, high-value matters involving significant quantum and challenging liability issues. These cases often involve life-changing injuries, vulnerable clients, complex medical evidence and substantial damages. As such, the role provides outstanding exposure for a legal professional looking to develop their expertise in serious injury and clinical negligence work within a high-quality litigation practice. The firm is looking to recruit a qualified lawyer capable of operating at Grade A or B Fee Earner level, with either experience in, or a strong interest in, high-value personal injury litigation, particularly catastrophic injury or clinical negligence work.
Responsibilities:
- Taking initial instructions from clients and preparing draft witness statements
- Drafting letters of claim and other pre-action correspondence
- Managing key dates and ensuring compliance with court timetables and procedural deadlines
- Liaising with experts, counsel and clients, and handling general case enquiries
- Attending conferences with counsel, both remotely and in person
- Preparing court documentation including claim forms, particulars of claim, schedules of loss and disclosure lists
- Conducting legal and quantum research where required
- Instructing and briefing counsel
- Supporting the wider team with general litigation and case preparation tasks
About You:
- A solid understanding of litigation processes, the Civil Procedure Rules and the MOJ Portal
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong analytical ability and attention to detail
- The initiative and problem-solving skills required for complex, high-value cases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A compassionate and empathetic approach when working with vulnerable clients
